Connor 7 Months

You are finally rolling! both ways! I joke that when we were in Hawaii you taught your cousin Brynn to sit up and she taught you to roll because you both had a new skill by the end of the trip.

You have been trying to sit yourself up lately. I think you are strong enough to do it but you haven't quite figured it out as you don't seem to like to use your arms very much.

We still haven't really started you on solids yet. I think you are interested but not chomping at the bit and I will admit I have been a little lazy… The pediatrician said you should just be eating a few foods by 9 months.

You are not the happy sitter that your sister was. I remember Aurora being very needy until she learned to sit  on her own and then being super content playing by herself. You on the other hand seem like you are terribly frustrated by the fact that you haven't yet learned to crawl.

Sleep is a disaster in this house after Hawaii. I swear, I am going to have to think long and hard about ever traveling to another time zone with littles because you and your sister have been taking "naps" when we put you down at night and then being up really really late. After not sleeping AT ALL on the overnight home from Hawaii, this mama is exhausted!

On the positive side, you are still only waking up every three hours and your naps are moving closer to an hour a piece instead of only 30 minutes.

May 2014

So it's May, and yes it is still snowing in Denver!  And when we aren't getting snow we seem to be getting hail storms. I honestly love Denver weather, but sometimes it can be challenging.

Minetta and the Koch's came to visit! Uncle Roger, Aunt Cindy, and Minetta stayed with us for the night while they were in town for one of Cindy's doctor's appointments. I love that Aurora and Connor have the chance to get to know their great grandmother. I barely knew any of my grandparents so this is really special.

I had a great Mothers Day! Matt, Aurora and Connor got me a milk brother, which might just be the best gift ever. I can't think of another gift that I use at least once a day :) They also took me out to my favorite restaurant, Jax.

Our garden is starting to produce! We have gotten kale, arugula, lettuce and spinach so far. So yummy!

Connor 6 Months

15 pounds 13 ounces

Six months already?! This is the end of the baby-baby stage… and I am not sure I am ready!!

We haven't really started solids with you yet but you have gotten a slice of avocado or red pepper a few times because you were so indignant that everyone else was eating and you weren't.

You aren't consistently rolling over yet, but honestly I think that is just because you have no interest. I have definitely seen you do it.

You are however sitting up really, really well. We don't spot you anymore and you can even compensate if you start to fall or your Dada pushes you a little bit ;)

You are loving your toys (especially that lego giraffe!) and will switch them from hand to hand. You will also sit and look intently at your fingers and hands which is pretty funny.

You are starting to communicate with us - You will get really excited and wave one hand when I ask you if you want milk and if we clap and hold out our hands you will put your arms up "asking" to be picked up which is so fun.

We finally switched you to your own room and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought you would have a harder time transitioning from the rock and play to your flat crib but it didn't bother you a bit! Being in your own room has definitely helped the sleeping situation a little but too. You are now waking every 3 hours instead of every 1-2. Yay!

Your naps aren't great but at least you are taking naps so I shouldn't complain. You are pretty consistently taking 3-4 30 minute naps during the day.

April 2014

Matt was gone quite a bit this month -- one weekend for a bachelor party and another for his cousin Sami's wedding. The wedding unfortunately was not kid-friendly so I stayed home with Aurora and Connor.

Aurora had so much fun celebrating Easter this year. We dyed eggs and hid them around the yard for her. She was so excited to hunt for them :)

I started taking some sewing classes at a store here which has been so much fun. I think its good for me to get out for a while and good for Matt and the kids to have some quality alone time too.

I started training for a 5k with a group of Mamas at Wash Park. It is a little discouraging to realize how out of shape I am, but there is nothing like the feeling of getting a run in early in the morning.

Aurora started hip hop! I'm not sure we will continue because she is by far the youngest in the class and she hasn't enjoyed it so far but it's pretty cute to watch anyway.

We planted our garden! I have wanted to start a garden for a few years now and just never got around to it. So excited for fresh veggies!

Connor 5 Months

Connor man Connor man you are 5 months old! You are the smiliest dude and it is so easy to get to you laugh. It's pretty funny looking back that I was worried about you not smiling and now your giggle totally cracks me up :) You especially love being tossed in the air, "eaten" or bounced.

Your Nanny is also relieved that your baby blues look like they are staying. For a while there was a question as to whether you would be the first brown-eyed McCord baby. Looks like blonde hair and blue eyes!

You are starting to become fascinated with our phones. We used to be able to check email or I could work on my to do list while holding you but that is now almost impossible. You just try to swat at the phone and often send an email early or delete something I am working on ;)

You are totally sitting up on your own. You will still fall over if you reach too far or get distracted but if we put the boppy behind you you will sit and play for 10-15 minutes.

You also love to be in your jumper. For a long time you didn't know you could bounce but know you love to throw your weight around in there. You also like sitting with us at the table but I think you are starting to get jealous that everyone else is eating solid food in front of you! You are also starting to bear weight on your legs fairly regularly. I hope we have some time before you start moving...

I think you are starting to teethe. You have always chewed on things over sucking on them but recently it seems like more frantic chewing. You have started being able to bring toys to your mouth and you really like to chew on your moose lovey when you go to sleep.

Your sleep is still a complete disaster. I have tried only feeding you every three hours at night and just rocking you to sleep at the wake-ups in between, changing the inserts in your diaper etc and nothing seems to make a difference. We did stop swaddling you and also moved you out of the rock and play into the co sleeper. I figured we would need to make those changes eventually anyway so we may as well do them now when we are used to frequent wake ups. Luckily neither transition changed your sleeping at all.

On a high note you were falling asleep at bedtime totally unassisted but that now that you are teething that hasn't been happening so much.

Your naps have also gone south and but I hope they will get better as soon as these teeth pop through. The past few days you have been taking 4 30-40 minute naps instead of the 3 longer ones you used to take.
